A Conceptual Framework for Multi-scale Cellular Modeling of Spatial Change

چکیده
The use of cellular models for simulating spatial change phenomena has been a subject of intensive theoretical and applied research for the last two decades. This type of models was developed during the 1940s to devise mathematical rules for the evolution of biological systems. They were introduced in urban geography by Waldo Tobler in the 1970s because of their spatial structure and their ability for describing complex behaviors from sets of simple rules. The research effort made since then led to many different spatial change cellular models, some of which are being applied in practice. However, these models are based on a single-scale approach, since they focus on metropolitan or urban areas. In this paper, we present a conceptual framework for

Dynamic Multi-resolution Cellular Space Modeling for Forest Fire Simulation
Multi-resolution modeling is an important research topic in modeling and simulating complex systems. In this paper, the authors develop a multi-resolution discrete event cellular space model with multiple spatial resolution cells, i.e., the spatial sizes of different cells are different. The change of cells’ spatial resolutions happens dynamically and adaptively as the simulation proceeds. This...
متن کاملSimulation and Evaluation of Urban Development Scenarios Using Integration of Cellular Automata Model and Game Theory
Urban growth is a dynamic and evolutionary spatial and social process that relates to the changes of urban spatial units and the transformation of people’s lifestyles and consequently demographic changes. Considering the urban development process as a function of land uses interactions, population structure and the strategic behavior of the agents involved in the urban development process (the ...
متن کاملThe Conceptual Framework of Individual and Social Security Provision in Residential Complexes Based on Iranian-Islamic Foundations
Security as one of the basic human needs has a special place in relaxation, comfort and spiritual needs provision. For this reason, security is always of managers, planners, architects and urban designers' interest. Solutions and strategies of security provision have been fundamentally changed following prevailing change of housing architecture patterns from homes to residential complexes and h...
متن کاملModeling inequality levels with the help of spatial and non-spatial indices in northern Khorasan
This paper aims to explain the inequality and imbalance in the developmental levels of 6 selected cities in North Khorasan. The paper seeks to answer these two questions as to whether the spatial and non-spatial indices in regional disparities have an effect on equality? And can we achieve a functional model based on the evaluation of indicators? In order to achieve the goal and the answer to t...
متن کاملA Multi-Formalism Modeling Framework: Formal Definitions, Model Composition and Solution Strategies
In this paper, we present a multi-formalism modeling framework (abbreviated by MFMF) for modeling and simulation. The proposed framework is defined based on the concepts of meta-models and uses object-orientation to overcome the complexities and to enhance the extensibility. The framework can be used as a basis for modeling by various formalisms and to support model composition in a unified man...
